“Slopes at Mt. Hood"

“Slopes at Mt. Hood"
Slopes at Mt. Hood” is a series of nine 9” x 12” prints created using the reductive or elimination method of linocut. Five prints in the series feature a blue/gray palette. Three prints in the series feature a gray/light gray palette. One print features a light gray/white palette. As with all printmaking, each print has small variations inherent in the process.
The reductive method of linocut involves a number of color overprints made from a single piece of linoleum, with more of the linoleum being cut away for each overprinted color.
On this piece, the first parts carved out of the linoleum were what remains white on the print, and a gray ink was inked over the top of the linoleum to create the snow shadows. Then the piece was run through the press, transferring the ink to paper. Then the portions that remain gray were carved away and a darker grey ink was rolled on the linoleum. Then the paper was again run through the press, transferring the ink onto the paper. The print was run through the press with different colored inks five times.
By the end of the reductive process, the linoleum is almost entirely carved away and no additional prints can be made.
This print is unframed. It will be packaged in a clear sleeve with a cardboard backing. If you want a framed print, you may add the frame to the cost of the print by choosing that option and adding it to your cart. A framed piece is a bit too big for $5 shipping.
